DR. BARTOLO – from the opera “The Barber of Seville” by G. Rossini – is an aged, choleric, but nevertheless lovable (at least in Hugo Wieg’s production) doctor, who wants to gets his ward-daughter Rosina married by “love or force”. His antagonist is Count Almaviva, who – with the help of the Figaro and numerous disguises – woos for the girl’s favor. An opera with lots of laughter and in which eventually true love is victorious.
